KSRTC for 6 inter-state buses more

The daily services to Puducherry, Tirupati and Velankanny will be started from Ernakulam

Kochi: After a wait of nearly six months, the Kerala state road transport corporation (KSRTC)’s plans to operate multi-axle Volvo buses to six new inter-state destinations will be realised by December 15.

“The daily services to Puducherry, Tirupati and Velankanny will be started from Ernakulam. We’ve now received transit nod from the respective state governments and the final procedures are being completed. The services would be started by December itself,” said a senior KSRTC officer.

In March last, the corporation had announced to start the services by September but delay in getting transit nods delayed launch of the services.

“The Vallarpadam-Velankanni service was promised by Transport Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan during laying of the foundation stone for the new modern busbay cum shopping complex project at Karikamury near Ernakulam.

Meanwhile, the KSRTC would operate special Pampa services from various destinations including from Ernakulam and Chengannur railway stations for the convenience of interstate pilgrims from this Sunday onwards.
