CM evading solar panel, says VS Achuthanadnan
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Leader of the Opposition V. S. Achuthanadnan on Friday accused Chief Minister Oommen Chandy of trying desperately to avoid cross examination and personal appearance before the solar commission.
In a statement, Achuthanadnan said the commission had issued notice to Manalur MLA P. A. Madhavan under 8(1) B for his links with Saritha S. Nair and he was all set to become an accused in the case.
Though the MLA tried to avoid personal appearance placing various arguments and even after a senior lawyer appeared on his behalf, the commission put its foot down and directed him to appear.
Now he has decided to approach the High Court at the behest of the chief minister. "The chief minister is trying to test the waters as he too has received a similar notice," he said.
Achuthanandan said Chandy had received notice under 8(1) B for appearing before the commission for cross examination. The chief minister who always spoke about law taking its own course in such matters was trying to evade law which exposed his double face, he said.
There were chances of Chandy becoming an accused in the case on the basis of the statements and evidence given by Saritha, his ex personal staff members and others.
"He is trying to wriggle out of the case using different tactics. But people of the state will see through his game plan," Achuthanandan said.
