Relatives fight over harassment of girl

A street fight broke out on Thursday between the relatives of a Second Year Intermediate student
Hyderabad: A street fight broke out on Thursday between the relatives of a Second Year Intermediate student and those of a boy who was allegedly harassed her. The fight took place at Presidency College in Falaknuma. The boy, 17, also a Second Year Intermediate student in the same college, had proposed marriage to the girl and was allegedly pressurising her to accept his proposal.
The girl, also 17, whose marriage was already fixed with someone else, informed her cousin who, along with his friends, attacked the boy and his relatives rushed to rescue him.
According to police, the boy had given the girl his contact number on a piece of paper and had asked her to call him. However, she refused to accept his proposal. When he continued to harass her, she infor-med her cousin Mr Ahmeduddin, who, along with three of his friends came to the college and confronted the boy.
Meanwhile, two of the boy’s uncles, who are former boxing champions, rushed to the spot after being alerted. They, along with the boy and one of his friends, got into an argument with the girl’s relatives. “The argument led to a fight. They came till Ayan hotel on the other side of the road, attacking each other,” said South Zone DCP V. Satyanarayana.
Based on a complaint from the victim, a case under the Criminal Amendment Act 2013 and Sections 354 & 509 of IPC has been registered against the boy and a case under Section 324 of IPC against his uncles and the friend.
The boy’s relatives too lodged a complaint against the girl’s relatives and a case under Section 324 of IPC was registered against them.
