Cop arrested for extortion
He got involved in a complaint relating to a live-in relationship
Hyderabad: A cop from the counter-intelligence department who allegedly tried to extort money from a person was arrested along with two others here on Friday. He got involved in a complaint relating to a live-in relationship.
As per the case, Divya, 26, a native of Chittoor, was having a relationship with Shabbir, and the two lived together in a rented house in Yada-giri Nagar in Yousuf-guda area for six years and then got separated. Divya sought the help of B.V.R. Shiva Kumar, a 2007 batch SPF constable, to warn Shabbir and ensure that he would not trouble her. Shabbir 29, is a native of Tirupati and worked as a graphic designer in Film Nagar area.
Divya had taken the help of a colleague M Laxmi Prasad, 37, a resident of Rehmath Nagar and one N. Palem Raju to get connected to Shiva Kumar. Shiva called Divya to a lodge in Lakdikapul area and took down a complaint from her. Then he called Shabbir to the same lodge and assaulted him, demanded Rs 3 lakh from Shabbir to settle the case. Shabbir paid a part of the money and then alerted the police, said Jubilee Hills Inspector Venkat Reddy.
