Telangana: Take a selfie, make it a stamp
Hyderabad: You can turn your selfie into a postage stamp. Under a new scheme floated by the postal department, an individual can take a selfie and get a postage stamp made of it. The stamp can be used for posting letters.
The department is expected to start the new ‘My Stamp’ facility at the Head Post Office here by December-end. A sheet of the selfie stamp will cost Rs 300 and will contain 12 personalised postage stamps with a face value of '5.
In 2013 the department had introduced the ‘My Stamp’ scheme in which a passport-size photograph of the applicant was converted into a stamp.
In case someone does not have a selfie, they can get one clicked at the instant photo-printing facility that will be made available soon at post offices.
“All you have to do is to apply for ‘My Stamp’ and submit a selfie of yours,” a postal department official said. Customers have an option to transfer money through net banking.
Mr Anish Verma, a resident of Malakpet, called the selfie initiative “very creative.”
“It adds a personal touch to the letters you send to your loved ones. It will be a memorable thing to do for birthdays and anniversaries,” he said.
