P C George resigns ahead of decision
George claimed that Mani had accepted several crores from PWD contractors
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A day prior to Speaker N. Sakthan taking a decision against MLA P. C. George as per the anti-defection law, George tendered his resignation. This brings down the tally of KC (M) MLAs to eight and UDF’s seats in the Assembly to 73.
Later talking to reporters at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club, George unleashed a scathing attack against CM Oommen Chan-dy who, he said, stage-managed the downfall of KC (M) supremo K.M. Mani.
Mr George alleged that Chandy along with KPCC vice-president M.M. Hassan shipped all the files relating to the palmolien case to all centres including AKG Cen-tre. He challenged Hassan to file a case against him.
“Mani and his party colleagues tried to cancel my assembly membership after lodging a complaint. I am happy with Mani’s resignation. I do not understand why Mani has spared Chandy. When Mani said at Wednesday’s press meet that someone was baying for his blood, it was none other than Chandy”, said Mr George.
He also demanded that it should be examined in which files Mani had signed on the night he quit. George claimed that Mani had accepted several crores from PWD contractors. He also alleged that it was Chandy and the industries minister who brought R. Selvaraj MLA to the Congress from CPM fold. George said that he would contest from Poonjar again.
