KM Mani tries to take K Babu down as well

Mr Mani iterated his statement on the UDF not denying him justice which he had made on his farewell press meet
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KC (M) chairman K. M. Mani on Thursday tried to pin down excise minister K. Babu saying that there was more evidence against him in the bar bribery case. But after he made this comment to a national TV channel and a news agency, he backtracked saying he had not said anything against Mr Babu.
In a veiled attack, Mr Mani claimed that Biju Ramesh, Kerala Bar Hotel Owners Association working president, had said that he himself had given the bribe directly to Mr Babu while charges against him (Mani) were hearsay.
“The allegation against me was hearsay. But in this case, he (Biju Ramesh) said he had directly given the money. I cannot make any comment about that,” said Mr Mani.
This is for the first time that Mr Mani openly spoke against a UDF minister after the controversy broke out. On Wednesday, Mr Ramesh had alleged that he had gone to Mr Babu’s office in the secretariat twice and handed over '50 lakh each.
Mr Mani iterated his statement on the UDF not denying him justice which he had made on his farewell press meet.
“The UDF has not denied justice to me. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has openly said there was no need for K.M. Mani to tender his resignation. He fully supported me. In the beginning itself I had expressed my willingness to give the resignation. There was no pressure from my party,” added Mr Mani.
