The fishing boat that left Beypore capsized near Goa coast
KOZHIKODE: As many as 16 fishermen were rescued and two went missing after their boat which started from Beypore capsized in the deep sea near Goa coast on Thursday. It was the boat named “Ocean Pride” from Beypore that capsized in the Goan Sea. The fishing boat started off from Beypore port on November 10 to Goa at 8 pm.
Among the fishermen in the boat, 16 of them swam towards the Karwar near Karnataka and Goa border but information is yet to come about the two other fishermen in the same boat.
The mishap occurred after they were about to reach the Goa- Karnataka port in Karwar. Missing of the two fishermen was reported at the nearby coast station and the search for the two has been started, informed the coastal officials at Beypore port after contacting the coastal officials in Goa.
However, no clarity of information has been reported as to whether more people in the boat have gone missing, they said.
The boat is owned by Beypore native Kamal Farook. Coatsal police also said that no information on how the boat met with the accident has been reported.
The boat cost Rs 98 lakh and it has been badly damaged in the mishap. The boat had started its service for last one year had most of its employees are from Kanyakumari.
