Happy reunion for couple on the verge of split
Fathima Irshana arrives at Nadapuram in Kozhikode, in search of her husband
KOZHIKODE: Had Fathima Irshana come down to Nadapuram a day late, her marriage would have ended in legal wrangles with husband Biju planning a second marriage on Thursday.
Irshana, 34, a Sri Lankan national reached Nadapuram on Wednesday in search of her husband, Biju of Vanimel, near Nadapuram. Then only she came to know that he was to get married on the next day with a woman from Kannur. The hapless woman approached the police and foiled Biju’s second marriage. Further, the reconciliation talks held by the police resulted in the episode ending on a happy note with Irshana and her two kids going along with Biju.
According to Nadapuram deputy superintendent of police, Premsadan, Irshana and Biju had become friends in Sharjah in 2010 and the duo tied the knot in Sri Lanka.
“Biju had converted to Islam to marry her. They have two daughters, aged two-and-a-half years and one year. The woman and elder kid had visited Biju’s home one-and-a-half year back,” he told DC.
The events that led to the break-up were apparently triggered by lack of communication. When Irshana says that there was no clue from Biju for many months since his return from Sharjah, Biju says that he lost touch with her after her going back to Sri Lank. In the time gap, the relatives of Biju fixed another marriage for him.
Biju was taken into custody on Wednesday night by Nadapuram inspector. When Biju saw his children along with Fathima Irshana on Thursday morning at Nadapuram DySP office, he was overcome with emotion.
“There was no serious problem between them. After spending a few weeks in Nadapuram, the couple will fly back to their work place in Sharjah,” the DySP said.
