Chandrabose murder case: Nisham’s wife turns hostile

Changes her stand in murder case
Thrissur: Amal Nisham, the 11th witness in the Chandrabose murder case and wife of the accused Mohammed Nisham, was declared hostile by the trial court here on Thursday as requested by the prosecution after she deviated from its line.
Special public prosecutor C. P. Udayabhanu said she tried to create a story by departing from the position taken by the prosecution during the trial and so he pleaded to declare her hostile.
Ms Amal, who appeared before the Additional District and Sessions Court here, requested the trial judge K. P. Sudhir through her counsel to send media persons and others who are not associated with the case out of the courtroom as she turned up for examination and the judge allowed it.
Only the accused, investigators and lawyers of both sides remained in the courtroom as she was examined.
It is learnt that deviating from the prosecution stand that the businessman intentionally rammed his car on the victim at the posh Sobha City in the wee hours of January 29 after an argument over the delay in opening the remote-controlled barrier at the entrance gate, Amal tried to make the incident look like an accident.
Legal experts said the hostile witness could even get a life term for perjury if she deviates from the CrPC 164 statement she had given before the magistrate earlier.
