A new concept photoshoot seeks to add a new dimension to women working out in the gym

The importance of looking good in public has touched new peaks entirely these days — even while working out at the gym! This is the idea that motivated photographer Rahul Dev and model Sooshie, to join hands for a concept photoshoot that would not only promote gymming as a glamorous activity, but also add an edge to it. The shoot quickly connected with women across social media, and garnered praise. They say, after all, this is the age of fitness and toned bodies — and if the result is appreciated, then so should the process!
“We realised no one had ever conceptualised a shoot like this before – that gymming can be glamorous. In a way, it’s to inform women out there that no matter where you are, all you need to appear hot is to be confident about yourself. And we wanted to mix the shoot up — ditch the usual sneakers, guy clothes and trainer bras, and switch them out for leather pants and sexy crop tops!” smiles model Sooshie, who works in the customer service industry and is a popular figure in the city’s social/ nightlife scene.
Chennai-based photographer Rahul Dev was the chief architect behind the idea, while popular designer Swathi Purushothaman came on board as well. “Sooshie has a really edgy look, so she was perfect for this. The psychology of Indian fashion is very different from how it is globally — and I wanted to bridge that. I wanted to take this particular concept to the next level. Also, all of us being part of the glam industry, it is but natural that we are looking to make an impression wherever we go. I wanted to shed light on the fact, that nowadays, even before working out, people shop for stylish gym-wear and dress up in an appropriate manner … that’s how much attention we pay to looking good!” says Rahul.
Sooshie, who’s looking to make her debut in films shortly, signs off saying, “Even though it’s a fashion shoot, I hope some women take inspiration and self-assurance from this — that would be heartening.”
