Kochi: Even as discussions on selecting the mayoral candidate is marred by political controversies, a clear picture on the nominees for Ernakulam district panchayat has not yet emerged. The KPCC meeting to be held at Thiruvananthapuram will take a final decision.
The KPCC has to consider the Congress’ group equation in the district while finalising the key posts. If the Mayor post in Kochi Corporation is given to ‘A’ group, then ‘I’ group will get the panchayat president post.
Meanwhile, the ‘I’ faction has projected Asha Sanil who won from Mulanthuruthy as its president candidate while the ‘A’ group’s nominee is Dolly Kuriakose from Avoly. In the 27 division district panchayat, the UDF won 16 seats while the LDF could secure only 10.
During the 2010 elections, a staunch ‘I’ group follower Adv. Eldhose Kunnappilly was selected as the president while the vice president post was given to ‘A’ group nominee Bindu George.
