Anti- Deepavali campaign by Tamil group
Naam Thamilar party cadres turned many eyes at Sankarankovil in Tirunelveli district
Tirunelveli: Anything that looks different attracts people’s attention and hence political parties and social outfits never missed a chance to make something different, whenever they get chance no matter whether it makes sense or not.
On Deepavali day the Naam Thamilar party cadres turned many eyes at Sankarankovil in Tirunelveli district by observing the day to respect Naragsuran, claiming that he was their glorious ancestors. Distributing handouts advising the people not to celebrate Deepavali, which they claimed the fall of their ancestors, around 20 cadres of Naam Thamilar party of cinema director Seeman severely criticized the people, who celebrate Deepavali.
According to Tamilselvan, Tamils have only one festival as of now and it is the birth day of the LTTE founder leader, Velupillai Prabaharan. Even Pongal celebration does not fully represent the ancient Tamil culture, said the Naam Thamilar party cadres, distributing the handouts against Deepavali celebration. However they predicted one more future festival for the Tamil community on the day, when the separate Eelam is formed.
The irony about the Naam Thamilar Party cadres, who heavily came down upon the majority of the people celebrating deepavali out of ignorance of their history, is that they paid floral tributes to the picture of Mahishasuran of the Chamundi hills in Mysore mistaking Mahishasuran for Naragasuran.
