Sub-Inspector faces transfer for arresting Anoop Jacob’s drunk driver
Kochi: The sub-inspector of Udayamperoor police station is facing transfer threat for arresting Shiby Kurian, driver of civil supplies minister Anoop Jacob, for drunken driving. Kurian was arrested in November 1 under the influence of alcohol on November 1 from Tripunithura. Although Kurian flaunted the name of the minister the SI S. Rajesh charged a case against him before releasing him on bail.
Along with Rajesh his wife Boby Vishwam, a teacher in the Girls Higher Secondary School in Triunithura, is facing the threat of transfer. City police commissioner MP Dinesh confirmed that SI will be transferred. He however, made it clear that it was a routine procedure and he was not aware of the involvement of any minister in the matter.
According to the charge sheet Shaby Kurian son of Kurian of Pandalil House in Piravom traveling in a motor bike with registration number KL-17L 8673 was stopped by the police after found him under the influence of alcohol. Mr. Kurian had also misbehaved with the police on the day and threatened them with dire consequences.
Rajesh said he had not received the official transfer order but was informed orally that he has been shifted to Kottayam traffic police.
