K Chandrasekhar Rao violated poll code, complains Congress
Hyderabad: A delegation of Telangana state Congress leaders on Tuesday met the Chief Electoral Officer and filed a complaint against Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, accusing him of wilfully violating the election code, in place for the Warangal Lok Sabha bypoll.
TPCC spokespersons B. Kamalakar Rao, G. Niranjan and A. Shyam Mohan met CEO Bhanwarlal and said that the Chief Minister’s recent announcement relaxing the upper age limit for recruitment of police personnel by three years was tantamount a violation of the poll code.
They said that though a sub-committee comprising ministers had submitted its recommendations a month ago, the Chief Minister deliberately held back his decision, only to announce it in the midst of Warangal bypoll.
The Congress spokespersons said that the announcement will certainly influence the voters. Stating that Mr Rao has violated the election code, they demanded action against him.
Mr Bhanwarlal told the Congress delegation that he would forward the complaint to Election Commission and act according to its instructions.
