Treatment plant to be set at Pampa

The ‘Safe Sabarimala’ project will be implemented from the upcoming season which aims at ensuring the health of pilgrims

Kochi: A waste treatment plant on the model of the one constructed at Sanni-dhanam will be set up at Pampa too before the start of the next pilgrimage season, Devaswom Minister V.S. Sivakumar said on Tuesday. He was inaugurating a modern waste treatment plant at Sannidhanam constructed at a cost of Rs 23 crore.

“The hydraulic load of the plant at Pampa too will be five million litres per day (MLD) and is aimed at preventing the pollution of river Pampa,” he said.

He also laid the foundation stone of a modern hospital complex being constructed at Sannidhanam besides throwing open the Rs 39-crore queue complex at Saramkutti, restaurant block at Pampa, roads and parking yards at Nilackal to the devotees.

So far, developments projects worth Rs 61.27 crore, which are part of the Sabarimala master plan, have been completed.

Meanwhile, the ‘Safe Sabarimala’ project will be implemented from the upcoming season which aims at ensuring the health of pilgrims.

As part of the project, 24 Emergency Medical Centre-cum-Oxygen parlours will be functional at various parts en route the trekking path.
