Reduce misuse of SHG loans, Kimidi Mrunalini to officials
Visakhapatnam: The District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) officials should work in line with the vision of the state government to make 100 per cent women in the state economically robust, said Rural Development minister Kimidi Mrunalini.
On Tuesday, a state-level DRDA review meet was held at the ZP office in Visakhapatnam with project directors of all the districts of Andhra Pradesh. Ms Mrunalini said, “Though 90 lakh women in the state had taken loans through self-help groups, about 70 pc beneficiaries are misusing the money for other purposes other than becoming economically self-reliant. The officials should concentrate on the issue of bringing down these discrepancies and should not grant loans to those who don’t utilise the money for economic self-reliance.”
She also directed the officials to provide training to the women in tailoring clothes and other things to make them earn additional income. Speaking about the pensions, the minister said that at present, about 43 lakh people in the state are receiving some or the other form of pension.
“If any technical or other errors are found the in the process, people should immediately report it to the officials,” she added. SERP CEO Solomon Arokiaraj, SERP advisor C. Rama Lakshmi, additional project director China Tatayya and DRDA PDs and APDs from all the districts were present at the meeting held in the city.
