One dies in cracker blast in Guntur
The incident happened when some local tried to make crackers
GUNTUR: One person died on the spot and another one seriously injured in a cracker blast on Tuesday. The incident happened when some local tried to make crackers in Chavali village of Vemuru mandal of the Guntur district.
According to DSP, Ch. Sowjanya, the Vemuru police warned Ch. Srinivasa Rao 29, a cracker producer of Chavali village, not to produce country made crackers four days ago. But Srinivasa Rao started manufacturing of local crackers in a hut on the building of Ch. Pamulu on Tuesday morning. Unfortunately, the crackers blasted during packing and Srinivasa Rao died on the spot. The hut was totally destroyed and parapet wall of the building also collapsed.
A student of SSC, S. Venkatakrishna, who went to watch the manufacture of crackers sustained serious injuries on his face, hand and legs. The Vemuru police rushed to the spot, shifted Venkata-krishna to Tenali government hospital for treatment, but as his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to GGH Guntur. The Vemuru police registered a case and started investigation.
Meanwhile, the locals complained to police about illegal manufacturing of crackers in villages and sought action. Tenali RDO G. Narsimhulu and other officials along with police officials inspected the spot.
