Karimnagar cop exposes seniors

The accused used to lend the money to common people at high interest rates
Hyderabad: The suspended cop and loan shark from Karimnagar, Assistant Sub Inspector B. Mohan Reddy confessed that he had even helped Peddapalli MLA to take a loan of Rs 3 crore. District Additional SP and three DSPs besides Circle Inspector and other lower rank officials had also invested and helped Mohan Reddy pull off his scam, the tainted cop revealed in his confession.
After four days of interrogation, the names of Karimnagar Additional SP Janardhan Reddy, CID SP, R. Bhaskar Rao, former DSP in Karimnagar Ganapathi Jadav, DSP of Huzurabad Sanjeev Kumar, have been revealed by the ASI. He also revealed names of Korutla Circle Inspector, Surendra, CID Inspector Sai Manohar, Electricity Vigilance Inspector Ch Mallesh from Karimnagar, SI from State Intelligence bureau Buchi Ramulu, and Head Constable Shankar Singh.
According to his confession, Additional SP Janardhan Reddy invested Rs 90 lakh, DSP Sai Manohar Rs 30 lakh, and Vigilance Inspector Ch Mallaiah Rs 20 lakh in the venture. The accused used to lend the money to common people at high interest rates. “Before the 2014 election, on my recommendation, my friend and businessman, Kiran Rao gave a hand loan of Rs 3 crore to the Peddapalli MLA Manohar Reddy,” said Mohan Reddy in his confessional statement.
The police officials also used to help him terrorise and collect money from the people using uniformed police staff. The cop also confessed that he used his money and influenced higher officials in the police department to get transferred to Karimnagar. And he used to avoid his duty and engage in real estate business by ‘managing’ superior officials. He had also established his office at Boiwaguda in Karimnagar and had several henchmen to help him. Doctors, lawyers and advocates had also invested in his venture.
The murky financial deals of the cop came out when a private school owner R. Prasada Rao in Karimnagar town committed suicide in the last week of Oct. In his suicide note, Rao, who had taken Rs 50 lakh loan from the cop, pointed fingers at the ASI as the reason for his suicide. Following a complaint lodged by Rao’s wife, the police registered a case of abetment to suicide against the accused along with money laundering charges.
