Vizag city Congress unit activists conducted ‘Matti Satyagraham’ at the collectorate

Visakhapatnam: The Congress party will fight relentlessly till the Union government accords special category status to Andhra Pradesh, said party city unit president Behera Bhaskara Rao.

On Tuesday, the Vizag city Congress unit activists conducted ‘Matti Satyagraham’ at the collectorate.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bhaskara Rao said the Union government betrayed Andhraites by not keeping its promise of according special category status. “Even after the Congress announced special status to Andhra Pradesh and passed a resolution in the Parliament, the succeeding NDA government, led by the BJP, couldn’t deliver the promise.”

“The Congress party is the only one fighting persistently for special category status. Taking Mahatma Gandhi’s Salt March, which greatly contributed to the cause of Independence for India, we launched ‘Matti Satyagraham’ to attain special status to the state. We will send the clay samples collected from all over the state to PM Narendra Modi to remind him of his promise,” he added.

The Congress leaders also said that the BJP’s defeat in Bihar general elections was a testimony to the failures of the NDA government at the Centre and anticipated that the same would happen to the TD in the state in the next elections.
