Job racket: Big ‘scam’ in Singareni

Question paper leaked, all 470 posts sold: Opposition

Hyderabad: The first-ever job recruitment test conducted by the Telangana State government post bifurcation has run into rough weather. Over 83,000 candidates had appeared for the test for junior assistants’ posts of Singareni Collieries on October 10 for around 470 jobs.

There are now allegations that the jobs were sold out and the questions papers leaked. At one of the centres, an invigilator allegedly wrote the exam.
Unemployed youth OU students and TS Congress leaders have alleged that two members each from 70 families seemed to have got the posts as the “family name” of all such candidates are the same.

For example, there are 301 candidates with the family name “Bandi”, another 231 candidates have the family name of “Bandari”, another 298 carry the family name of “Thota” and 165 candidates have “Pothu” as their family name while 149 have “Uppu” as the family name.

OU JAC chairman Manavata Roy alleged that TRS MP K. Kavitha was also involved in the scam. “She is the leader of the Singareni Karmika Sangham. We are obtaining proof of her involvement in the scam. We demand that the TRS government order a CBI enquiry into the incident; if not we will go to the High Court seeking an order for a CBI enquiry,” he said.
