‘Strawberry penne’ on a roll

She is now looking forward to two Bollywood projects

Avani Modi, who hails from Gujarat and was last seen in Strawberry in K’town, is the latest to have jumped on the bandwagon of models from the north entering Kollywood.

The actress who made headlines recently for her role in the B’town flick Calendar Girls is elated that she could push the boundaries with the film despite it not doing well at the box office. Having debuted in south with Naan Rajavaga Pogiren a couple of years ago, she says that the Tamil film industry is close to her heart.

She opens up, “I have always been in awe of Kollywood for its unique films, and felt that the way the industry functions is remarkable. But what impressed me most was that the artistes and technicians are unpretentious here. I will always look forward to taking up interesting characters in Tamil movies.”

National award-winning Madhur Bhandarkar’s last film Calendar Girls was a flick the B’town industry anticipated with bated breath. It’s known that the showbiz industry is a place where cat-fights are common especially when two or more actresses share screen space. Quiz her on how difficult was it to work in a film which had four other actresses essaying roles of equal importance, she smiles, “Nothing of that sort happened on sets. In fact, it was great fun and we had a whale of a time shooting for the movie.”

The actress who is a fan of Ajith and Vijay, says she is now looking forward to two B’town projects and a Tamil film which might go on the floors the next year.
