Ranbir, Deepika to attend Big B's Diwali bash

Ranbir and Deepika will be among the guests at the Diwali party of Big B

Mumbai: Actors Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone will be among the guests at the Diwali party of megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

The duo would spend their day at home on the eve and later join other celebrities in the evening at Bachchan's house.

"We will celebrate Diwali with our family in the day, do the Lakshmi puja and then at night, we all are heading to Mr Bachchan's party," Ranbir, who was in the capital yesterday to celebrate the festival with the media, said in an interview.

Meanwhile, Deepika said that she wants to go to Benguluru to spend a few hours with her family and then fly back to Mumbai.

"I am contemplating whether I can go to Benguluru for half a day to spend time with my parents. Otherwise, maybe I will do a small puja at home and then head in the evening to the party," the 29-year-old actress said.

Dressed in a red-and-white Payal Jain saree, Deepika struck a stunning picture, while her 'Tamasha' co-star Ranbir Kapoor looked dapper in a red Rohit Bal kurta-pyjama combined with a half jacket.

When asked if her celebrations are any different from a North Indian, the Bengaluru girl said, "I don't know how it is done in North India or any part of the country but the day is different like it is a day before for us than what it is for others.

"We oil our hair a day before, have head bath in the morning on Diwali, help mum with lighting diyas, keeping lights ready for the evening, dispatching the gifts. I don't know if rituals are different and I don't think that matters. Emotions and feelings matter," she said.

Sharing about his father Rishi Kapoor's insistence on burning two sparklers since Ranbir was a child, the actor said, "For me Diwali has been the same since I was born. We go to RK studios, do the Lakshmi puja there, we distribute gifts to the staff.

"We go to our grandmother's house, take her blessings, exchange gifts, entire family comes together. We then come back home, do our puja. My father insists we burn at least two sparklers that's a tradition he believes in, he said.

Ranbir further said that "We tell him that we are done with firecrackers and we don't do that anymore but he insists. Then we go to our friends' parties. We have been going to Amitji's house for past two years, so I will be continuing that tradition this time."

Before interacting with the media, the actors lit diyas, tried their hand in making rangoli and played cards.

The much-loved on-screen couple looked relaxed, comfortable and in festive mood as they joked around with the reporters.

The duo also did an impromptu jig to their 'Tamasha' song 'Matargashti'.

Director Imtiaz Ali's 'Tamasha' releases November 27.
