MK Stalin urges Chennai Corporation to open health camps
The DMK treasurer also advised his party men to organise awareness drives
Chennai: DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin on Monday urged Chennai corporation to open special health camps in all divisions on a war-footing to control the spread of dengue in the city.
Criticising the state government for not doing enough to control the spread of dengue, Stalin referred to the contradictory statements of the state health minister and the city corporation commissioner on the issue of dengue outbreak and said the city corporation has deliberately withheld information and even misrepresented facts pertaining to the disease outbreak.
The former deputy chief minister quoted civic commissioner Vikram Kapur as saying that 484 people had dengue symptoms in the city. Alleging that private hospitals and civic and health department officials were being threatened not to share information related to dengue cases with mediapersons in the city, Stalin said the AIADMK led civic council only has time to pass resolutions praising chief minister Jayalalithaa and to evict DMK councillors who rake up people’s issues.
The DMK treasurer also advised his party men to organise awareness drives and health camps across the city instead of waiting for the civic body to do its job.
