Mani has no conscience, says Balakrishna Pillai
KOLLAM: The conscience of K. M. Mani has not been awakened even after the High Court’s invocation of the same in the bar bribe issue, Kerala Congress (B) chairman R. Balakrishnapillai said on Monday.
If he had such a conscience, he would have resigned even earlier, said Mr Pillai. He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the MVR memorial conference at the district bank auditorium here on Monday. Mr Pillai also said that he knew Mani well and that he had got no such conscience.
“It is the first time in the history of the state that money is spent by the government for a case against its own minister. No money has been spent for me when I was involved in a corruption case. I have got the evidence for Rs 25 lakh spent from the exchequer for Mani. It is the first incident of spending money to support the theft done by a minister and to prevent his resignation,” he alleged.
Mr Mani’s next stance would be to extend suppor to the government from outside after the resignation of his party’s ministers from the cabinet, he said.
