THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Even as LDF got an upper hand in the local body elections, it can boast of only 0.13 percent edge over UDF in terms of votes polled.
While the LDF secured 37.36 per cent of the total votes, UDF secured 37.23. The BJP share was 13.28 per cent while others secured 12.12 per cent.
During the 2010 local body polls, the vote share of LDF was 42.3 per cent, UDF 46 per cent and BJP 6.2 percent.
Of the total votes polled, LDF bagged 74,01,160, about 3.6 lakh less than the 77,63,495 votes secured in the 2010 elections. The UDF which secured 84,47,977 votes in 2010 could only bag 73,76,752 this time. On the other hand, the BJP which received only 11,47,292 votes in 2010 now secured 26,31,271.
