The season to give!
The Nature Restoration Centre (NRC) may be a nature-oriented group, but this Diwali the one-year-old band of volunteers is in the mood to give back to the homeless of the city.
After their last successful blanket donation drive that saw over 400 blankets donated and distributed to the poor on the city’s streets two months ago, NRC has taken their drive to the national level. “This time we’re doing it in other cities like Kolkata, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bangalore,” says Rini Anweshi, one of the founders of the group, “We’re targeting 1,000 blankets overall to be given to the homeless.”
The drive, that started on October 8 and ends on November 14, has already received 580 blankets in Hyderabad itself.
Now, a ‘hotel’ for dogs (A safe petsitter for your pets this festive season)
How many times have you wanted to visit your parents during Diwali holidays or just decided to take a trip but cancelled all your plans because you just didn’t have the heart to leave your pet behind?
Well, realising that many people have the same problem, a Hyderabad-based start-up, Wagotel, is now creating a community for dog lovers who can even take in someone else’s pet if a neighbour is traveling. The start-up is spreading the good word through posts on Facebook and seems to be a viable option for those looking to get away for a few days.
