New Delhi: Team India limited-over skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has shown interest in acquiring IPL teams. According to a report in Mid-Day, the cricketer along with business tycoon Sanjeev Goenka informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that they have the required resources to buy the teams, whose base price is from Rs 40 crore.

Goenka – the head of the RPG group – is keen to buy a team from any city as the Kolkata franchise is already owned by Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan.
It is learnt that Goenka – also the co-owner of ISL franchise Atletico De Kolkata – has been advised to pump money in cricket by none other than former India captain Sourav Ganguly, his partner in Atletico.

On the other hand, Dhoni apparently has support of Ranchi-based industrialists, including the Mittals, to own a team. The report says that the other companies backing Dhoni include Videocon and JSW Steel.
Dhoni’s team – Chennai Super Kings – was banned from the league earlier this year.
