Bengaluru bus rape: Want to marry victim, rapist tells police
Bengaluru: The accused in the Sulibele mini-bus rape case has reportedly requested the police to get him married to the victim citing that he was madly in love with her for the last one year.
Ravi, 21, the driver of the mini-bus, was arrested by the Sulibele police on Friday for allegedly raping the 19-year-old girl in a moving bus on Thursday morning. Police sources said that the accused kept on requesting the interrogators to marry him to the victim.
“He claims that the he had seen the girl about an year ago and was in love with her since then. He has told that he had proposed to marry her but she had turned it down. It is then that he raped her in the bus. During the questioning, he requested the officials several times to marry him to the victim,” a source said.
The girl has, however, told the police that only two days before the incident she had seen his face when she got into the same mini-bus. The victim is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital, while the accused, Ravi and Manjunath, are lodged at Parappana Agrahara Central jail.
