Kishan Reddy blames lack of CM candidate
Hyderabad: Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party president G. Kishan Reddy said the BJP suffered a defeat in Bihar due to the party decision not to declare a Chief Ministerial candidate. Speaking to newsmen here on Sunday, he said the results would have been different if the BJP had a Chief Ministerial candidate.
Kishan Reddy also attributed the defeat to the vicious campaign by the Opposition on the so-called “growing intolerance.” He said JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar had earned a good name during his 10-year stint as Chief Minister and the people of Bihar believed that he would bring development if voted to power for a third term.
However, he quickly added that Bihar poll results would not have any impact on the Centre or on the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. Replying to a question, he said an introspection on the Bihar election will be done after all the results were out.
Anti-modi wave in country, says Jaipal Reddy
Senior Congress leader S. Jaipal Reddy on Sunday said the Bihar results clearly establish that an anti-Modi wave has started against the autocratic functioning of the Prime Minister and that the anti-Modi trend would continue in other areas where elections are due.
Speaking to the media at the Gandhibhavan along with AICC Secretary R.C. Kuntia and TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, the former Union minister said the Bihar people had slapped Modi by giving a record margin to the Grand Allaince led by Nitish Kumar who was known for his honesty as Chief Minister.
"Modi reduced the Bihar Assembly polls into a municipal election by addressing around 25 meetings which is unprecedented by a PM. He wanted to play the communal card and was rejected outright by the Bihar people,” Jaipal Reddy said. He said the Bihar results should be an eye opener to the PM. Jaipal Reddy said CM K. Chandraekhar Rao is anti-democratic and hoped that the people of Warangal would teach the TRS a lesson.
