Tamil Nadu: BJP keeps state poll hopes high
Chennai: Asserting that the Bihar poll results will not affect BJP’s poll prospects in TN where Assembly elections are due next year, BJP state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan termed the poll verdict as a “setback” to the “people of Bihar who have not opted for development and good governance.”
Reacting to the defeat of the BJP-led NDA in Bihar polls, Dr Tamilisai said, “it was not a defeat, but a minor setback as the BJP has lost only one per cent of its vote share. Bihar Assembly polls will not affect the BJP in Tamil Nadu. The BJP will definitely usher in a change in the state.”
BJP could not win the polls despite campaigning on the development plank in a backward state like Bihar.
“People have not opted for development and good governance, it seems,” she regretted.
“When the BJP spoke of development and progress, they talked about beef, instigating the sentiments of the people,” she claimed.
