Army protection given for Wagah crew
Vikram Prabhu seems to be thrilled working on back-to-back films and says he encountered a lot of adventure while shooting in Kashmir for his upcoming movie Wagah. The grandson of thespian Sivaji Ganesan and the son of actor Prabhu, will be essaying an army officer in the film. Tipped as a thriller directed by GNR Kumaravelan, it is set against the backdrop of a cross-border romance between an Indian army officer and a Pakistani girl.
Sandalwood actress Ranya Rao is making her Tamil debut with the film. It is known that Wagah is the hotspot border village situated between archrivals India and Pakistan.
The unit had a month long schedule at Kashmir and has returned recently. Vikram Prabhu says, “It was a hectic shooting stint. We were shooting day and night and many important scenes were shot there on the busy roads and several vantage points including near the border. The government and the CM of Kashmir MR Mufti Mohammed were obliging and accommodating while we were shooting. In fact, he was requesting more film units to come and shoot in Kashmir (which was once a tourist spot), as the situation is tensed now. I also feel Kashmir is very beautiful and I want more filmmakers to shoot there. Former military officer-turned-filmmaker Major Ravi helped us in many ways. We were given military protection while shooting — some fifty army men were around us always.”
