BJP to Governor: Get Anjaneya ousted
Leaders also raised the issue of deteriorating law and order situation in the state
BENGALURU: Leaders of the state unit of BJP knocked on Governor Vajubhai Vala’s doors on Saturday, seeking his intervention on social welfare minister H Anjaneya’s ouster, even as a city court passed an injunction against telecast of news on charges of corruption against the minister.
In a memorandum submitted to Mr Vala, the BJP leaders said: “His continuation in the cabinet will seriously jeopardise public confidence in the democratic system. We kindly request you to intervene and advise the Chief Minister to seek his resignation immediately. A high-level inquiry must be ordered on all transactions in the social welfare department. We are sure many more such dubious deals will be exposed.”
State BJP president Pralhad Joshi told the media later that the minister was already under the scanner in the case of purchase of beds and pillows by his department. “We also demand that the services of officers involved in this corrupt transaction must be terminated because they are misusing funds meant for poor students,” he added.
These leaders also raised the issue of deteriorating law and order situation in the state, and said the governor should take action.
