Texting while driving can be just as dangerous as drunk-driving
If you thought checking your text messages when sitting behind the wheel wasn’t that risky, then you are dead wrong. A survey showed that motorists were more worried about other drivers being distracted by their phones when in the driver’s seat than those who were drink-driving.
The study, carried out by the Institute of Advanced Motorists, quizzed 2,000 people. Around 93 per cent said that they felt most vulnerable when driving near texting drivers. Also 92 per cent opined that they were concerned about those using social media on their phones.
On the other hand, 90 per cent believed that other motorists who were under the influence of alcohol were the greatest risk to their safety even though just 23 per cent believed it was a growing problem, reports the Daily Mail.
