A superstitious release for Akhil

A screening of the movie was held on Friday as the makers felt that it was a good day

While Akhil Akkineni’s debut film Akhil is set for a Diwali release on November 11, a special screening of the film was held on Friday for a few selected people as the makers felt that it was a good day. “Diwali is not a good day to release a film and they found November 6 to be a very auspicious day. So the makers requested Akhil’s aunt Naga Susheela to buy a ticket and she obliged. She brought a ticket for Rs 1,000 and they showed two reels of the film at exactly 10.45 am,” says a source.

Director V.V. Vinayak, producer Sudhakar Reddy, Nikitha Reddy, Amala Akkineni, Naga Susheela, Kona Venkat and a few others from the family attended the show, said the source, adding that Amala was delighted to see her son on the big screen. Interestingly, since the time of the late Nageswara Rao, the Akkineni family never believed much in superstitions.
