Toyata’s ‘UUV’ is one of the coolest minivans ever
Mumbai: Toyota has finally launched its long awaited ‘Ultimate Utility Vehicle’, which is unarguably one of the wackiest vehicles of 2015. It main purpose was to serve as a command center for the Ever Better Expedition—a North-American expedition—where a convoy of nine Toyota vehicles were driven over 16,500 miles through the continent’s most extreme driving conditions.
The Ever Better Expedition is the company’s own driving project, which is conducted to push Toyota vehicles to the limits and engage with customers along the way. Currently, the hot weather part of the North American expedition is complete and the cold-weather trip through Canada and Alaska will begin soon.
Many car-oriented websites and auto experts predicted in June that the UUV, which is a combination of the spacious Toyota Sienna minivan and the rugged 4x4 Tacoma, will be one of the most futuristic minivans ever.
Packed with a horde of innovative solutions and high-tech equipment, the vehicle allows seamless navigation through the world’s nastiest terrains and has the ability to serve as a mobile workstation.
The UUV seamlessly deals with rough terrains thanks to its redesigned body-on-frame construction. The fusion between Sienna’s spaciousness and Tacoma’s 4x4 frame has given an extra edge to the moster minivan.
The vehicle's enhanced chassis, suspension and grippy tyres give it the ability to cling on to any kind of surface and the TRD supercharger highly boosts engine power. The Wilwood brake package is enough to stop the vehicle easily.
The technology aspect of this pseudo-monster truck packs quite a punch. It features Wi-Fi, Satellite TV, Night Vision Camera, USB Ports, and a high tech 2,500-watt JBL audio system.
The UUV role is to constantly help Toyota’s engineers to monitor vehicle data from all nine vehicles on the expedition, record vehicle performance videos throughout the day, and communicate with Toyota’s headquarter via Skype. Toyota’s UUV is surely one of the coolest vehicles on Display at the 2015 SEMA show and is definitely a smart vehicle for the future.
