Hyderabad: Hyderabad zoo has finalised deals to exchange animals with four zoos in India and one in Ukraine. The purpose behind the exchange is not just to induct new species in zoo but also to bring animals of opposite sex, of which just one sex is present in  the Hyderabad zoo.

Zoo curator Mr Gopi Ravi said, “Agreements have been reached between the Hyderabad zoo and donor zoos for the exchange. If all the exchanges get approval from the CZA, we will have new animals in our zoo by January 2016.”

The animals to be acquired include zebra, giraffe, barking deer, gharial, Indian fox, wolf, hyena and wild dog.
