Angry farmer flings slipper at Kadiam Srihari
Kadiam was campaigning for the TRS at Shayampet mandal on Friday
WARANGAL: A farmer threw a slipper at Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari when he was campaigning for the TRS at Shayampet mandal on Friday. While the Dy CM was addressing party cadre, cotton farmer Damerakonda Komuraiah flung his slipper at him. He was pulled out by party workers immediately and handed over to the police.
The incident took place while Mr Srihari was speaking about the failure of the Central government in paying MSP of Rs 5,000 per quintal of cotton.
Mr Komuraiah, from Arepally village, got up and asked what then was the TRS government doing for the cotton farmers and why the state government was not giving bonus to the farmers. He then threw his slipper at Mr Srihari. However, it missed him and struck others. Mr Komuraiah was a former TRS party worker and is currently the BC JAC co-convenor for Shayampet mandal.
Responding to the incident, TRS district president T. Ravinder Rao said the farmer was mentally unstable and that he would previously create a nuisance at public meetings. He added that he belonged to CPI (ML) New Democracy party. The opposition parties have been attacking the ruling TRS party, accusing it of neglecting farmers’ issues even though they are committing suicide. The TRS meanwhile has not announced any bonus for the farmers and has blamed the central government for failing to provide MSP to cotton farmers.
Along with Mr Srihari, party candidate Pasunoori Dayakar, minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Peddi Sudharshan Reddy were present at the meeting.
