When interior designers Raja and Sirisha moved into their 2,600 sq. ft apartment in Hitec City, designing was an easy task. Sirisha, who recently received a PhD in interior designing, took charge of designing the home while husband Raja helped out. They live in the cosy apartment with their children, Chandra Mallika and Kritika.
Keeping in mind that theirs is a nuclear family, Sirisha and Raja kept the interiors minimalistic. “We kept in mind the requirements of the family and decided not to go overboard. There are no extra storage units and a straight line concept has been used,” says Raja.

They were the first family to move into the My Home Abhra Apartments, and the reason partly was that the duo worked around the basic structure and specifications given by the builder. “We didn’t create a false ceiling. Instead, we noticed that the ceiling had an interesting pattern so we kept it as it was. And not having a false ceiling brought in the illusion of extra space,” says Sirisha, who also teaches interior designing at JNTU.
While their home has a basic shade of grey all over, it also has pastel hints.

And being in the business the duo has also used as many new materials as possible. For example, a glass storeroom door is given a three mm-film finish to give a virtual feel of wood and also makes for easy maintenance. The 4-BHK apartment has three bedrooms and the fourth bedroom has been converted into a home theatre.
