Man sets himself on fire at home

He recovered and was discharged from hospital in September
Hyderabad: A mentally challenged man allegedly committed suicide saying that Durga matha appeared to him in a dream and told him to die. A. Nageshwar Rao, who set himself ablaze at his home on Monday, succumbed while undergoing treatment on Wednesday.
A. Nageshwar Rao, 55, was a resident of Ayodhyanagar in Jeedimetla. He was mentally ill and was under treatment at the Institute of Mental Health, Erragadda since a year.
He recovered and was discharged from hospital in September. After returning home he started working as a watchman at a private company in Jeedimetla.
On Tuesday night he returned from work and slept. At around 4.30 am he woke up suddenly, poured kerosene on his body and set himself ablaze. He suffered nearly 70 per cent burns.
“He said that Durga matha appeared to him in a dream and told him to commit suicide. Though he was discharged from hospital he was still mentally unsound,” said Jeedimetla inspector A. Chandrashekar.
A case under Section 174 was registered and the body was handed over to his family after postmortem.
