Left demands probe into EVM sabotage
CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrish-nan said that the matter had to be probed thoroughly
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Opposition LDF on Thursday expre-ssed concern over the suspected sabotage of electronic voting machines (EVMs) in Malappuram and Thrissur and demanded a high level probe into the issue.
CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrish-nan said that the matter had to be probed thoroughly. There were reports of malfunctioning of over 300 EVMs in these two districts and even the State Election Comm-ission suspected sabotage.
The CPM state secretary said that the SEC should take all steps to ensure that re-polling scheduled in Malappuram and Thrissur went on without any problems. The party demanded that steps should be taken to check any attempt to sabotage the polling process.
CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran called for comprehensive probe into the allegations of sabotage of EVMs. “With the SEC itself suspecting foul play there should be a full fledge investigation into the circumstances under which EVMs malfunctioned.”
