Leaders vie for voters’ eye

Election fever has gripped city ministers and MLAs
Hyderabad: Election fever has gripped city ministers and MLAs, ahead of the crucial GHMC polls likely to be held in January, 2016. City ministers and MLAs are vying with each other to launch various development works, almost on a daily basis, without giving clarity on how the required funds would be mobilised to complete these works, within the two-three months.
They are coming out with programmes like spending 24-hours in bastis and colonies and holding padayatras to know the problems being faced by people.
The ruling TRS, which has been striving to build base in GHMC limits since its inception in 2001, is trying to garner strength on the back of its political power.
The fact that TRS chief and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao accommodated four ministers, including a Deputy Chief Minister from the city, in his Cabinet shows the significance the party attaches to building a base in GHMC limits.
City ministers Mahmood Ali, Nayani Narasimha Rao, T. Padma Rao Goud and Talasani Srinivas Yadav are going all out to woo the voters with an eye on the GHMC polls. They are being assisted by other key ministers in the Cabinet, K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao.
“Most of the complaints being received pertain to bad roads, potholes, drainage and drinking water problem. We are trying to resolve all these issues within two months. There are funds available under GHMC budget besides MLA quota funds which will be utilised for the purpose,” said Mr Padma Rao.
BJP MLA N.V.S.S. Prabhakar went a step ahead and launched his “24-hours with your MLA” programme, spending the time in Kailasagiri and Saibabanagar along with officials of 16 GHMC wings.
