KOZHIKODE: It was just a year back teachers and students of Koyilandy Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School stumbled upon the ‘metro man’ in its alumni records.
Till then, E. Sreedharan was not on the 95-year-old school’s alumni list which included Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer and writer U.A. Khader.
On November 10, the metro man will be felicitated by the school.
“He studied here during 1942-44 till class 10. A native of Pattambi, he came with his elder sister whose husband was working at the government register office here,” headmaster Vasu C.K. said.
Balraj M.G., a teacher, said he had had a tragic experience here when he was staying near the railway station with his sister and brother-in-law.
“His sister became sick and there were no doctors available here. By the time the doctor reached from Kozhikode, she had died,” he had said.
Mr Sreedharan used to take a bath in Aghora Shiva Temple pond at Panthalayani. At the felicitation, he will release a book, Indiaye Dhanyamaakiya Koyil-andy containing profiles of 17 greats of Koyilandy. They also include K. Kelappan and C.K. Govindan. U.A. Khader will be the chief guest.
