Tainted bureaucrat had 50 GB of child porn on hard drive
Kapil Mohan has emerged to be a connoisseur of child pornography
Bengaluru: The Principal Secretary of Sports and Youth Empowerment Kapil Mohan has emerged to be a connoisseur of child pornography! An external hard drive belonging to the senior IAS officer seized along with other materials by CID sleuths and IT Department was found to contain scores of graphic videos of children engaged in sexual acts. He has now been slapped a case under Information Technology Act, 2000.
Kapil Mohan is currently being investigated by Lokayukta Police, who received the case from CID, after the CID raided an apartment in Yeshwantpur registered in the name of PSK Finance Solutions Private Ltd, run by the immediate family members of Kapil Mohan.
It maybe recalled that the Economic Offences wing of CID and Income Tax Department had jointly conducted a raid on August 5, 2015 on the apartment at Golden Grand properties in Yeshwantpur during their investigation on allegations of cricket betting. They had seized Rs 4.37 crore in cash, 2.5 kg gold jewellery and diamonds.
Along with this, the police had seized documents, around 40 CDs and DVDs along with an external hard drive. This hard drive and CDs and DVDs were handed over by the Lokayukta police to Forensic Science Laboratory for examination.
The report threw a shocker to the police. The external hard drive contained personal photographs and documents belonging to Kapil Mohan and also a whopping 50 GB of hardcore child pornographic videos.
Sources in the police department said that many of the videos featured girls aged as young as 7 and 8 years old being raped and being forced into other sexual acts. In addition, one of the CDs also contained more child pornographic material while eight CDs had adult pornographic content.
“This is a very serious offence and we immediately notified the police, so they could conduct an inquiry,” a senior Lokayukta police official mentioned. A report was submitted to the office of the DCP North, who registered an FIR under Yeshwantpur police limits. North division police stated that they have not received the hard drive and CD/DVDs yet and they had filed an FIR based on report given to them by the Lokayukta police.
A case has been filed under Section 67 B of the IT Act, which prescribes punishment for publishing or transmitting of material depicting children (under 18 years) in sexually explicit act, etc. in electronic form.
