Once in a while, I want to do meaningful films: Nandita Swetha
Her forthcoming films have meatier roles for her to prove her mettle
Nandita may have done a blink-n-miss role in the recently released Vijay’s Puli. But her forthcoming films, where she plays the lead heroine, are meatier roles for her to prove her mettle. The pretty actress says that she is looking forward to her soon to be released movie Uppu Karuvadu (UK) directed by Radha Mohan, who is known for different attempts.
“It is a female centric subject and not many heroines can take up this role. I was honoured when Radha Mohan sir approached me for the role. I have attempted comedy for the first time in this film. Though it is not a dual role, it has a dual dimension. One of the girls is a homely type and the other one is crazy about everything. It was an enriching experience working with Radha sir,” Nandita tells DC.
Quiz her on whether it would be pitched for the national awards, and pat comes her reply, “Why not? But unfortunately, because of my time constraints, I did not dub my own voice for UK, which is one of the major criteria for award consideration. All said and done, I want a break from commercial cinema and to do these kinds of films as well.”
On Anjala, in which she will be seen as a Madurai girl, she says, “The movie is a love story set in the backdrop of a tea shop. While Vemal spends time at a teashop, I would pass by it, everyday on my way to college. I play a daring Madurai girl who expresses her love to the hero. I have always noticed that the women of Madurai have a fearless attitude, while shooting for the film Nalanum Nandhiniyum.”
