A name change for Antony’s debut direction
Antony is one of the top film editors of Indian films
Antony is one of the top film editors of Indian films, and a favourite of biggies like Shankar, Murugadoss, Gautham Menon, Lingusamy and Vijay. Recently, the accredited editor turned filmmaker in Tamil with the remake of the Malayalam hit Shutter. The thriller, which features Sathyaraj, Anumol, Yuhi Sethu, and Varun, was initially titled Night Show. Now, we hear that Antony has rechristened it to Oru Naal Iravil.
The film has been given a ‘U’ Certification from the Censor Board. Since a ‘U’ has been issued, the team wants to avail the 30 per cent tax waiver from the state government and hence the change of title. Using a Tamil title is one of the criteria for availing a tax exemption. Yet another reason, Antony says, is that many in the industry who watched the film were impressed with the racy narration, and suggested an English title to improve the reach. Thenandal Films is releasing the movie in Tamil Nadu.
