Salman Khan's 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' to release in Pakistan
Salman believes that cinema is a ‘powerful medium’ which has capability to bring in a change
Mumbai: Salman Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ turned out to be a massive success in Pakistan. Kabir Khan’s directorial, garnered appreciation at Pakistan box office. Now at a time when art and cinema have been dragged into the politics between both nations, Salman’s upcoming film ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ will be hitting the screens in Pakistan on the same day as in India.
Salman has mentioned that he wanted the movie to cross borders and now he has all the reasons to be happy. He believes that cinema is a ‘powerful medium’ which has capability to bring in a change.
Apparently, the film's Telugu version, which has been titled ‘Prem Leela’, has got into a pothole, as the title is not in-sync with the censor rules for dubbed films down south. A close source from the Censor Board said, "The title of ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ in Telugu has been kept as ‘Prem Leela’. The two titles mean completely different things. As per guidelines the title of a dubbed film must convey the same meaning as the original title. If not, then the producers must apply for permission to use a different title for the dubbed version of a film. The producers of ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ have not applied for permission to use a different title in Telugu."
Sooraj Barjatiya’s film is a family drama which revolves around a royal chapter about love and family ties, painted on a larger than life canvas. The film also stars Anupam Kher, Sonam Kapoor and Neil Nitin Mukesh to name a few. Currently, the Telugu version of the film is uncertified due to unsuited dubbed title. While the nation is eagerly waiting for this family saga, it will be interesting to see whether ‘PRDP’ gets a green signal in this Telugu title war or not?
