‘Will ensure safety for investors’

Communal violence has created a fear psychosis among global investors
Bengaluru: Expressing displeasure over growing incidents of socio-religious intolerance across the country, Home minister Dr G. Parameshwar on Wednesday assured a German delegation that the state government will take all necessary steps to curb moral policing in order to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for global investors to invest in Karnataka.
Speaking to reporters after meeting a 12-member German delegation headed by Mr Meiko Kasseckert, member of Hessen state parliament and CDU parliamentary group at the KPCC office here, Dr Parameshwar said, “We are living in a global village, so socio-religious intolerance cases have global ramifications. Therefore, German investors who came here to meet me expressed deep concern over such incidents. I assured to them that the state will co-operate in creating a conducive environment for investors to invest in the state ahead of the Global Investors Meet.”
Communal violence has created a fear psychosis among global investors, therefore, flow of foreign investment into the country is likely to be affected in a big way. “I have addressed this concern and tried my best to ally their fears too. Apart from raising concerns about intolerance, the German delegation also discussed various provisions of the law which will help them establish their entities here. I explained to them Karnataka’s Industrial policy,” he added.
Dr Parameshwar also said the government will take a close look at the existing orderly system prevalent in the police department. “The orderly system is prevailing over the last several decades, we need to relook at this system, wherein, constables work in their superior officers’ homes. This system reminds us of the old feudal system, we need to relook at this in a more humane manner.”
Responding to a question, the Home Minister said the assailants of writer M.M. Kalburgi will be arrested soon as the police special teams were in the process of gathering crucial evidence against the culprits.
