From ‘walking with the wolves’ to running with the snow leopards

Wildlife filmmakers Krupakar, Senani are working near Kargil for their next project
Mysuru: Noted wildlife filmmakers, Krupakar and Senani who spent time in dense forests to grasslands to shoot their film ‘Walking with wolves’, have now moved on to higher altitudes of Himalayas and are currently working on snow leopards near Kargil for their next project.
The duo shared many of their rare experiences, narrated anecdotes with the media on Wednesday morning. On choosing snow leopard this time they said, “When we did documentaries on dog and wolf, we were exploring social animals, now we are moving on to the elusiveness of the animal, Mr Krupakar said.
When asked about huge time invested on each project, Mr Krupakar said, “It is not that we are interested in taking their footage, we are keen on understanding them and studying their social life and it is a different world by itself, which leaves behind an intimate story and it is untiring,” he said.
Speaking about the response to “Walking with the wolves” which was launched exactly an year ago, for which they had to travel over 20,000 kms and research for over an year on the endangered animal, they said, that the movie was currently being screened in Europe, Switzerland, France and Germany. The movie which exposes the rare facts about wolves and explores the human element of a section of society which consider wolf as an enemy and the nomads who consider it as their brother and they have one third of their share in their food, is being much sought after by more and more scientists, Krupakar and Senani shared.
The duo also worked with the government in the filming of “Baarisu Kannada Dim dimava” which had 15 lakh viewers on you tube in a single week, and has reached fourth place among most popular videos, and currently screened in 940 theatres in the state. Mr Krupakar said, “We are proud to be part of it. It was an attempt to take Kannada closer to people through the current trend of catchy music with more energy which the people love,” Mr Krupakar said.
