You behead CM, We’ll behead you: Congress leader

Mr Channabasappa was arrested on Tuesday for threatening the CM
Bengaluru: Trying to turn the tables on the ruling Congress, the BJP state unit has demanded the arrest of former Nagamangala Congress MLA L.R. Shivaramegowda who allegedly during a debate on a Kannada TV channel, had got furious and said, “Channabasappa (BJP leader) should be beheaded for his statement against the CM.”
Mr Channabasappa was arrested on Tuesday for threatening the CM saying that he would be beheaded if he ate beef. Mr Siddaramaiah had on several public platforms declared unequivocally that though he had not consumed beef, he would if he wanted to and no one could stop him, inviting a flurry of protests from saffronist organisations.
Now, after obtaining the video clips of Shivaramegowda making his controversial statement, the BJP has decided to approach the city police commissioner demanding the arrest of the senior Congress leader. Party leaders are likely to meet the police commissioner on Thursday, demanding the arrest of the former Congress MLA.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP Ayanur Manjunath said the BJP disowns the derogatory statement of its Shivamogga leader, Channabasappa and expressed regret over what had happened. He demanded that Congress leaders who sought action against Mr Channabasappa, should also take same action against Mr Shivarame Gowda for his ‘beheading’? statement.
Party national joint secretary C.T. Ravi said that while condemning the statement of Mr Channabasappa, the BJP is also demanding penal action against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for hurting the sentiments of the majority community by saying he would consume beef it he wanted to. “The chief minister has acted against the Constitution. However the police have not taken any action against him while they have gone all out to arrest BJP leader Channabasappa. We demand the immediate arrest of the chief minister for his remarks on eating beef”, he added.
